Problem :
Managing multiple smart devices across different rooms is often overwhelming for users. Existing IoT apps commonly suffer from scattered controls, unclear status indicators, and inconsistent navigation patterns. Users struggle to locate devices, set up automations, and monitor real-time activity without friction.
A unified, simplified, and visually consistent experience was required to make everyday interactions effortless.
Solution :
I designed a simplified, user-centric app experience that unifies all smart home controls into a clear and intuitive system. A streamlined information architecture organizes the app into five core sections:- Home, Rooms, Devices, Routines, and Profile ensuring predictable navigation and reducing cognitive load.
High-fidelity wireframes were created to define key user journeys such as device control, routine setup, and room-based management. The interface uses a warm, minimal visual style with clear status indicators, large touch targets, and contextual toggles to support quick, effortless interaction.
The result is a cohesive, easy-to-use application that helps users monitor, control, and automate their smart home devices with confidence.
Challenge :
The greatest challenge was designing for a wide range of IoT devices with different behaviors, states, and requirements. Creating a unified experience while accommodating unique device interactions required a flexible yet consistent UI system. Another challenge was ensuring automation flows remained simple for beginners while still offering advanced configuration options.
